Under the direction of volunteer Leonard Pouder, the Sharon Land Trust is embarking on a project to clean up the hedge rows along the ridge of the Twin Oaks Field. Many of the trees on that beautiful ridge line are in jeopardy of being toppled by invasive vines. In addition, the invasive plants along the hedgerows are continually encroaching on the tillable area and reducing the productivity of the land. Please help us protect the view that we all love!
The Plan
Date: Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25th
Time: 7:30 AM until 4:30 PM each day (Morning & afternoon shifts available)
What we are doing: 10 to 12 volunteers are needed and will work in groups of 3 or 4: cutting and hauling brush
What to wear: gloves, tick protected clothing, hat, sunscreen, long pants, long sleeve shirt, sturdy shoes
Tools to bring (if you have them and are comfortable operating them): chainsaw, good loppers, pruners, weed whacker with a saw blade, fuel for motorized equipment, safety gear
Other things to bring: Lunch, snack, plenty of water to drink
The weather: If we need to cancel, we will email you by 7:00 AM on Saturday. Please be sure to sign up to be included in the email alert.
This will be hard work but the results will be worth it!
If working in the field is not your thing but would like to do something, we invite you to provide drinks and snacks for the crew!
