Sharon Land Trust Student Work Program
Purpose: The purpose of SLT Student Work Program is to offer Sharon’s youth an opportunity to work in the community on habitat and wildlife enhancement projects as well as trail building and maintenance. The Program will run for 2 weeks in the summer of 2019.
Open to all students, at least 14 years old, entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade, living in Sharon, CT.
Pay: $11.50 per hour. Participants are paid as a contractors and may receive a 1099 at the end of the year (if income exceeds $600)
Tentative Dates:
*Monday, June 17 – Friday, June 21
Monday, June 24 – Friday, June 28
*First work day depends on the last day of school
Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Meeting Place: Benton Hill Preserve, Benton Hill Rd, Sharon, CT OR other locations TBD with adequate notice. Participants must be dropped off no earlier than 8:45am and picked up promptly at 2pm.
Dress Code: Work will be outdoors, in the forests and fields on SLT properties. You must wear sturdy shoes with socks, long pants, long sleeved shirt, and a hat. Bring work gloves, if you have them. Prepare for the weather.
Bring to work each day: Bug Spray, sunscreen, water, and a bagged lunch, snacks.
Tools needed: hand clippers if you have them but we will provide the rest.
